Born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD, Nicholas worked in business publishing and communications with several firms in the US and in Shanghai, China before joining the financial services industry in 2015. He was trained as a financial advisor with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and worked as a 401(k) consultant and a private banking and wealth management associate with Wells Fargo before joining Midwest Secure Retirement as an independent financial planner in 2021. Nicholas focuses his practice on retirement income planning and comprehensive financial plan development.
Nicholas holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Government & International Affairs from Augustana University, and a Master of International Business degree focused on corporate finance, financial analysis and innovation management from Hult International Business School. He is a Certified Financial Planner, and also holds the Accredited Wealth Management Advisor designation from the College for Financial Planning, a designation in high-net-worth wealth management strategies and techniques. When Nicholas isn’t working, he can usually be found cooking Asian cuisine, reading books on history, philosophy, economics, and psychology, or playing role-playing games with his intrepid band of weekend warriors, the Sunday Night Slayers. He splits his life between Minneapolis and Shanghai, and lives with his wife, Angela Yingwei Wu, and his six-year-old son, Ramsey.
